Everyone can relate to the overwhelming panic that comes with seeing your phone at only 2 percent — stranded, asking co-workers to borrow a charger or battling it out for an outlet, whether it be in an airport or nearby cafe. We’ve all been there. This is especially true considering that consumers spend, on average, 162 minutes on their phones everyday just researching products, according to advertising platform Flurry.

Kate Spade & Co. has partnered with fashion tech firm Everpurse to create a new collection of handbags to alleviate modern technology pain points, including dying phone batteries. The process to create the tech-forward line has said to have taken over 10 months. The collection will feature clutches, wristlets, totes and backpacks that will have the ability to charge iPhones (all models, from the iPhone 5 to 6 Plus).

The purse won’t charge into an outlet, but rather rest on a battery-operated charging pad.

How long will a battery last on a fully charged Kate Spade Everpurse? “Two days,” says Everpurse Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Dan Salcedo.

Kate Spade & Co. Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Mary Beech told The Wall Street Journal that the retailer is “committed to digital innovation,” and designing for “customers who live a life on-the-go.”

The full collection of purses will be available in September at Kate Spade stores and on its website — just in time for the holiday season!
