After Women in Retail Leadership Circle’s (WIRLC) very successful Girl Talks West event last week in San Francisco, we’re ready to do it all over again, this time for our East Coasters. Girls Talk East will take place on Tues., Oct. 27 in New York City.

In case you’re not aware, Girl Talks events enable attendees to gather with their peers to hear short, passionate presentations (similar to TED Talks, hence the name) delivered by powerful women leaders. Be inspired by their personal stories, and gain new insights and ideas on everything from leadership skills, emerging retail technology trends, learning from failure, how to negotiate, and so much more! Buckle your seat belts and get set for a fun, fast-moving evening!

The lineup for next week’s event is awe-inspiring. The opening “talk” will be given by Michelle Peluso, Gilt’s CEO, who will discuss her career, specifically how and why she moved into retail from her previous experience at Citigroup, where she was the global consumer chief marketing and internet officer, and Travelocity, where she was the CEO. Through personal stories and insights, Michelle will walk you through what she’s learned during her career, including the importance of leading with grace – one of her favorite words – and how she’s able to balance her professional life with her home life.

Other speakers on the roster include Liza Kindred, the founder of fashion tech think tank Third Wave Fashion, and editor of Third Wave Magazine, a print magazine dedicated to fashion tech and wearables, who will explore some of the 21 new business models in her forthcoming book, “The Future of Commerce: How We Buy Now” (O’Reilly 2015); Nina Alexander-Hurst, vice president of customer experience and SWAT Stylists (Service Accessorizing Talent) at BaubleBar, who will discuss how she and her team focus on creative ways to build long-lasting customer relationships by surprising and delighting their customers; and Swan Sit, vice president of global digital at Elizabeth Arden, who will discuss her career and explain why saying yes to new and diverse experiences has been a key to her success.

It’s going to be a great night, I hope you join us!
